The celebration of May Day is a long standing tradition at the Chilmark School.  The day begins with the fourth and fifth grade demonstrating the May Pole Dance to the school and community.  This performance is the result of a month of rehearsals, which have in the past few years been choreographed and directed by members of the Yard.  After the performance students in grades k-4 participate in games which the fifth graders organize and run.
